Casa Rambla is a spectacular weekend house designed by Chilean studio LAND Architects. Located on the seafront in Zapallar, a town close to Santiago, the idyllic seaside residence has an harmonious connection between indoor and outdoor spaces, making the most of the scenic location. The open space property features glazed walls on all sides so the living areas can be either completely enclosed or opened up to the elements.

This spectacular residence was designed by Brazilian Architectural studio Arthur Casas. Located in Rio de Janeiro, the 5,200-square-foot dream house is set around lush vegetation and over the iconic landscape clinging to a slope of the Pedra da Gavea dome. The house features floor-to-ceiling sliding glass panels that open onto an amazing infinity pool with breathtaking views of the dramatic scenery.  More photos after the jump

This impressive apartment is home to famous Lebanese Architect Bernard Khoury. Located in Beirut, the 4000 square foot N.B.K. Residence is spread across three levels on the ninth and last level of the apartment block. It features 5 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, an amazing floor-to ceiling library with a steel grating bridge crossing the entire room, a swimming pool and an spectacular view over Beirut and the surrounding mountains. via

"Casa Till" is our latest dream house, designed by WRM Architects this low single story wooden construction is the ultimate retreat. The small ecological wooden house is wedged snugly into a cliff in Los Arcos, Chile, offering guests uninterrupted and breathtaking views of the sea and sky. The open floor plan employs a system of sliding walls, allowing for flexible room sizes and privacy levels, and large floor to ceiling windows create a larger feeling of space and provide astounding views of the unending scenic ocean views. Our latest weekend retreat dream is this stunning rustic waterfront cabin in Upstate Lake Camp - New York. It was designed by rustic dwellings experts, Pearson Design Group, a company that specialises in projects from large multi-structure ranch and family camps to intimate, highly detailed retreats such as this. Not much more info on the project, but it sure looks like the perfect getaway from hectic New York city life... the photos are enough to drool over.

The Pole House by F2 Architecture is one of Australias most iconic homes, and is available for rent! The spectacular beach front house is suspended 40 meters above Fairhaven Beach and offers unparalleled panoramic views of the beautiful coastline. The house was recently renovated and now features floor-to-ceiling retracting glass walls giving guests a sense of walking on air. The Floating House is a spectacular project designed by architect Dymitr Malcew for French developer H2ORIZON – a company that specializes in floating structures. It was created for people who appreciate freedom and nature at their doorstep, the mobile home is constructed on a floating platform that can be easily moved to different locations. The House offers two luxurious bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room and a kitchen, all with direct access to the surrounding terrace, enabling the outside world to blend in.

If you live in a hectic city, at weekends you might feel like escaping to a place completely disconnected from technology, this might inspire you. The Shack is a weekend retreat designed by Broadhurst Architects for a family from the suburbs of Washington D.C., it is located on the southern slope of South Fork Mountain, near Upper Tract, West Virginia. The little rural structure is a cross between tent camping, and weekend cottage, it has no electricity (Oil lamps provide light), and features a rain collecting system that provides water for the outdoor shower. Heat is provided by a small wood stove that also heats water for the kitchen sink. The front facing façade of the building features a glass garage door that opens up to a cantilevered wood deck providing a breathtaking view of the beautiful and peaceful surroundings.

The Mighty Mouse Apartment, designed by Australian architect Nicholas Gurney, is an interesting solution to the problem of limited space. The tiny apartment is located in  Sydney’s suburb Woolloomooloo and has a studio area of only 27 square meters, composed of white sliding panels that allow access to different living areas while concealing others. The color palette of black, yellow and red is inspired by the tiny fictional Mighty Mouse, a character with a punch well above its size.

Once owned by legendary Hollywood actor Steve McQueen, the Pioneer Moon Ranch is an outdoorsman’s mecca, and it’s for sale! The Great Escape star´s former home is as epic as you would imagine, spread over 500 acres of land in Hailey, Idaho, the property sits at the foot of the Pioneer Mountains and is defined by the Big Wood River that flows the length of the property for a mile and a half. One for the DIY lovers. The Living Cube is a homemade project by Till Konneker. After moving into a small apartment studio without storage room, Till decided to build a minimalist cube design with a shelf for his vinyl collection, his TV, clothes and shoes.  It also features a guest bed on the top, and, open up the cube to find plenty of storage space. This amazing retreat belongs to French designer Alexandre de Betak, it is nestled in a small coastal village in the Tramuntana region of Majorca - Spain. With wonderful views on Mediterranean Sea the laid back, rustic Cave House features eco-friendly furnishings, uniquely curvaceous white plaster walls and amazing wood and stone details.. But the stand out feature has to be the cave-style cinema room with throw-pillows, perfect for lounging after a day in the hot Spanish sun. via

We have featured some amazing retreats over the last couple of years, but none as special as this wooden cabin in Yulan, NY. It is owned by fashion stylist and interior designer Scott Newkirk, he wanted a place to escape in the weekends from the hectic city life. A place completely disconnected from technology, with no electricity or running water, no TV or computer. A place Scott can slow down and enjoy what nature has to offer before heading back to his demanding profession. via

This 1917 rustic country getaway in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York, was brought back to life by renowned New York interior designer Thom Filicia, it features a beautiful waterfront boathouse decorated with vintage furniture but equipped with the latest technology including a touch pad for controlling music from dockside speakers. via

For those not familiar with the name of Stefan Sagmeister, he is a famous New York-based graphic designer and typographer. Amongst his work are album covers for Lou Reed, OK Go, The Rolling Stones, David Byrne, Aerosmith and Pat Metheny. His own design firm - Sagmeister & Walsh Inc. in New York has recently moved into this gorgeous minimalist studio. More pics after the jump.
