Volvo P1800ES Restomod

The Volvo P1800ES has always stood apart, a rare mix of sports car and design icon that still feels relevant decades later. Now, Dutch studio Autoforma, in collaboration with Volvo Lotte, is giving the classic shooting brake a carefully considered second life. If you are into vintage machines with a modern edge, this sits right alongside the kind of builds we regularly feature in our automotive section.

Rather than a one size fits all approach, the program offers three distinct build directions, ranging from period correct restorations to more performance driven interpretations. At the top end, the transformation goes well beyond aesthetics. A modern turbocharged Volvo T5 five cylinder engine replaces the original powertrain, paired with an updated transmission, sharper steering, improved braking, and revised chassis geometry for a far more engaging drive.

Visually, the updates are subtle but effective. Carbon fiber wheel arch extensions widen the stance, LED lighting modernizes the look, and custom forged wheels complete the overall presence without losing the car’s original character. It is a balance that respects the past while quietly pushing things forward.

Inside, the cabin retains its original architecture but receives a full material upgrade. Leather, Alcantara, and Scandinavian wool bring a more refined feel, while improved ergonomics and discreet modern integrations enhance usability without disrupting the clean vintage aesthetic.

Production will be extremely limited, with just five builds planned per year. That exclusivity, combined with the thoughtful execution, makes this restomod less about chasing trends and more about preserving and evolving one of Volvo’s most distinctive designs.

Helm Series 1 Jaguar E-Type

The Jaguar E-Type was once considered by Enzo Ferrari "the most beautiful car ever made," and we are inclined to agree. UK-based Helm Motorcars has reimagined a limited run of 20 Series 1 Jaguar E-Types. Transforming the iconic vehicle with modern craftsmanship, Helm put 3,800 hours of work on every E-Type they restore. Also added to the bespoke E-Type, were new brakes, gearbox, wiring, suspension and steering, plus a modern air conditioning system, LED in...

Designer Sebastian Maluska has created a simple rooftop tent for dynamic nomadic people that can be fitted to the roof of any car. The lightweight pop-up tent is inspired by sailing materials, and unlike other car tents that are heavy, very expensive and bulky (which consumes a lot of fuel), the Nest uses as little materials as possible, which creates a more affordable and simpler way to sleep on your car. It is made from two light-weight aluminium frames covered wi...

1971 Ford Bronco

The 1971 Ford Bronco is a true classic and a highly sought-after design icon. This particular beauty, available at Bring a Trailer, has caught our attention. The selling dealer acquired this Bronco in 2020 and gave it a complete refurbishment. The body was refinished, and numerous upgrades were made, including the installation of Holley fuel injection and Dakota Digital gauges. The engine, transmission, transfer case, steering wheel, and brake system components were...
