Austin Healey Fastback Restomod

Few classic British sports cars have a story as charming as the Austin Healey Sprite. Small, light, and famously nicknamed the Frogeye, it was never meant to intimidate giants. Yet in 1959 it delivered a remarkable 1 2 3 class finish at the 12 Hours of Sebring, followed by further racing success with drivers such as Stirling Moss and Steve McQueen. That unlikely racing pedigree now inspires a modern reinterpretation: the Austin Healey Fastback Restomod by Mythron Cars.

Built in West Sussex and priced from around sixty five thousand pounds including a donor car, this reimagined Sebring style Sprite transforms the humble roadster into a focused fastback coupe with genuine performance intent. A one piece fiberglass front end and bonded roof dramatically reshape the original silhouette, while black ceramic coated trim, racing roundels, and a Le Mans style fuel filler sharpen the aesthetic.

Beneath the bonnet, the modest 948cc engine is replaced with a rebored 1,380cc A series unit producing between 110 and 120 horsepower. Weber carburetors, a revised cylinder head, high compression pistons, and a stainless exhaust give the lightweight chassis serious pace. With a curb weight barely over 600 kilograms, performance rivals far more modern machinery.

Buyers can choose between Fast Road and Fast Road Track specifications. The Track version adds a roll cage, carbon seats, harnesses, and a straight cut gearbox for a raw, immersive experience. The Road variant softens the setup with synchromesh transmission, leather trim, and more compliant suspension for everyday usability.

Unassisted steering, minimal electronics, and compact dimensions ensure the driving experience remains pure and engaging. It is not a polished grand tourer but a vivid mechanical companion that rewards involvement.

The Austin Healey Fastback Restomod captures the spirit of the original Sebring racers while delivering a sharper, more purposeful interpretation for modern enthusiasts. Small in size, large in character, and unmistakably British.
