House On Lake Como
Designed by German architectural firm J. Mayer H. this historic 18th-century villa on Lake Como was meticulously renovated to reclaim its unique character while integrating modern elements and and an eclectic color scheme. The villa's original facade was preserved, with refinements and new green shutters enhancing its timeless charm. Inside, existing surfaces and built-in furniture were unified with a monochromatic paint scheme, highlighting the villa's historical wear and layers of time. Lake-facing rooms feature light colors to capture radiant light, while darker tones in other rooms create calm retreats.
The garden was completely redesigned, featuring regional green stone lining the pool and a Tony Matelli sculpture. A new dock accommodates larger boats, and the grotto now includes cave-like showers and a fountain with water lilies and fish. The former ice cellar was transformed into a stainless-steel garden kitchen. Dense evergreen shrubs, fruit trees, and climbing plants further integrate the house with its garden, enhancing the villa's historic yet modern appeal.
