OOAK Architects were commissioned to create the perfect getaway on Karpathos, one of Greece’s most iconic islands. This breathtaking piece of residential design is a concrete holiday house that cantilevers over a rocky cliff to dramatic effect. Patio House seamlessly blends into the surrounding landscape, it features an optimal design that relies on minimalist principles and non-invasive placement, all while enhancing the rock-borne hillside through the house´s single-story construction. The building is constructed from reinforced concrete with a board-marked finish, and its roof has been covered with a gravel that compliments the tones of its cliff side. The end result is mighty impressive to say the least.
