Ducati Formula 73

Ducati leans into its heritage with the Formula 73, a limited edition urban café racer that revives the rebellious spirit of the 1970s while keeping one foot firmly in the modern era. Produced in a numbered run of just 873 units, the model pays tribute to the legendary Ducati 750 Super Sport Desmo and the 1972 Imola winning machine that helped define the brand’s racing identity.

Visually, the Formula 73 captures attention with a silver and aquamarine livery inspired by early supersport bikes, complete with vintage details like a colored frame and a custom Termignoni silencer accented with a gold band. The silhouette stays faithful to classic café racer proportions, featuring semi handlebars with bar end mirrors, a small front fairing, a tapered tail section and 17 inch spoked wheels. It feels like a machine designed as much for emotional connection as for pure performance.

Power comes from an air cooled 803 cc Desmodue L twin engine producing around 73 horsepower, paired with modern electronics including ride by wire throttle, traction control, cornering ABS and quick shift technology. The result is a bike that blends old school character with modern confidence, built more for enjoyment than outright speed.

Each Formula 73 carries its own serial number and certificate of authenticity, reinforcing its status as a collector’s piece rather than a mass market model. With pricing starting around twenty thousand dollars and global availability rolling out in limited numbers, the Formula 73 stands as a celebration of Ducati’s cafe racer legacy and a reminder that the pure joy of riding never goes out of style.
