Land Rover Classic introduces the Classic Defender Works V8 Islay Edition, a special SUV inspired by the heritage of Land Rover and the Isle of Islay in Scotland. This limited edition vehicle pays homage to Spencer Wilks, one of the founders of Land Rover, and his Mid Grey Series IIa. The Islay Edition showcases a Heritage Grey exterior with a Limestone roof and sturdy steel wheels. The interior features Windsor Ebony leather upholstery and tweed accents sourced from the Islay Woollen Mill. A unique removable tray incorporates oak from whisky barrels supplied by the Kilchoman distillery. Each owner will receive a special edition "639" whisky produced exclusively for the Islay Edition.
Based on donor cars from 2012 to 2016, the Islay Edition is equipped with a modern naturally-aspirated 5.0L V8 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, delivering 405 hp and 379 lb-ft of torque. Accelerating from 0 to 60 mph takes just 5.6 seconds, while the top speed reaches 106 mph. Land Rover enhances the Islay Edition with a Defender Suspension Upgrade Kit and a Handling Upgrade Kit for improved comfort and braking performance.
