Beni All-Terrain Camera Robot

Action cameras and drones have made it easier than ever to capture adventures, but they still have one major limitation, you either have to wear them or fly them. The Beni All-Terrain Camera Robot offers a different approach, autonomously following you across the ground while recording stabilized 4K footage, making it a compelling alternative for creators, athletes, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Developed by Mondo Robotics, Beni combines an autonomous all-terrain platform with an integrated camera capable of recording 4K at 30fps, 3K at 60fps, and 1080p at 100fps for smooth slow-motion footage. Using on-device tracking, it can automatically follow a person or pet while keeping the subject framed, with no internet connection required for its core tracking and filming features.

Designed for real-world adventures, the compact robot weighs 1.75 kg (3.86 lbs) and can reach speeds of up to 17.9 mph (28.8 km/h). It also features obstacle avoidance, can overcome obstacles up to 10 inches (25 cm) high, and uses swappable batteries that provide up to 1.5 hours of runtime per battery, with additional batteries extending total shooting time to more than 4.5 hours. Footage is stored internally or on a microSD card, while a motion controller allows intuitive manual driving when you want to take control yourself.

Unlike a drone, Beni is designed to stay close to the action, capturing unique low-angle perspectives while following trails, sidewalks, parks, and other outdoor terrain. For anyone looking to film solo adventures without carrying a tripod or relying on someone else behind the camera, it presents an intriguing new take on hands-free content creation. The Beni All-Terrain Camera Robot is currently available to back on Kickstarter, with retail availability planned after the campaign. As with any crowdfunding project, prospective buyers should consider the usual risks associated with products that have not yet reached full retail release. Watch the video below
