Santorini Cave House

This spectacular holiday house on the island of Santorini, Greece, is perched high on a steep hillside away from the surging tourist crowds, and has a mind-blowing view of the Aegean Sea and the volcanic landscape. Dug entirely into the volcanic rock without any foundations, the minimalist retreat designed by Kapsimalis Architects, consists of a living room, a dining area, a kitchen, a main bedroom and two bathrooms oriented towards to the view. The use of sliding, floor-to-ceiling glass doors also makes it possible for the interior areas to seamlessly blend into the exterior terrace which includes a sunbathing deck and an infinity pool.

The circular den was envisioned by Marchi Architects, it is distributed over two levels, a ground and basement floor, and is constructed from natural materials such as vertical wood slat cladding and smooth concrete, respecting the essence of the landscape. The unique house is accessed fro...

POISSON BLANC CABIN

This minimalist snow-white cabin disappears into a wintry lakeside within a forest in Laurentides, Canada. Anchored in the bedrock of a sloping terrain, the 1200 square feet (112 square metres) dwelling takes its cues from the rugged topography of its location, revealing an angular and monolithic architecture. Designed by Montreal-based Naturehumaine Architects, the retreat embraces the beautiful landscape, it is a simple abstract white volume characterized by a ser...

CONCRETE SUMMER HOUSE - Image

CONCRETE SUMMER HOUSE

Designed by Argentinean architect Luciano Kruk, the Concrete Summer House is a distinctly modern structure, but looks perfectly at home in the wooded area of a beautiful natural space located in northern Argentina. Located among pine trees in the seaside resort of Mar Azul near Buenos Aires, the H3 House is built using concrete to create a rugged appearance and to reduce maintenance, but also to draw a connection between the house and its wooded setting. It features...
