HRMTZ House
Perched on Chile's rugged Matanzas coast, the HRMTZ House by o2 Arquitectos is a masterclass in blending architecture with nature. Built into a steep ravine with jaw-ping sea views, this striking home adapts to its terrain through two carefully positioned volumes joined by a central bridge. One volume stands boldly elevated on stilts, "peeking" toward the Pacific, while the other nestles into the slope, creating a respectful dialogue with the landscape.
Crafted entirely from locally sourced pine wood, the structure features a ventilated façade and warm decking across its terraces, balancing durability with natural comfort. Inside, the layout separates private and social spaces—bedrooms in one volume, shared living areas in the other. Sliding glass doors stack away to create a seamless flow between indoors and out, perfect for family life or entertaining guests.
Designed with local winds in mind, the house offers sheltered outdoor spaces like the barbecue area and sea-facing terrace. Every detail of the HRMTZ House is tailored to its environment, offering a flexible, cozy retreat that is as thoughtful as it is stunning.
