Yamazaki 25 Years Old Mizunara Whisky
The House of Suntory has unveiled one of its most remarkable creations yet - the Yamazaki 25 Years Old Mizunara, the oldest expression ever to be matured exclusively in Mizunara oak. Known for its tight grain and demanding nature, Mizunara represents less than 1% of Suntory's casks, making this release an extraordinary rarity in the world of Japanese whisky.
After a full quarter century of aging, the spirit reveals the oak's most complex qualities, from incense, like aromas to subtle herbal undertones. On the nose, expect notes of apricot compote and cacao, lifted by warm spices like nutmeg and cardamom. The palate delivers a layered experience of orange zest, cream, and bittersweet oriental herbs, rounded out by the signature woodiness of Mizunara. At 48% ABV, it is a bold yet refined whisky that embodies the essence of Japanese craftsmanship.
Each bottle is presented in a handcrafted wooden box built using a traditional nail-free technique, further highlighting the artistry behind this release. While past Yamazaki expressions have featured partial Mizunara aging, this marks the first time the distillery has devoted an entire 25-year maturation to this revered oak.
