Unimatic Modello Cinque

The Unimatic Modello Cinque returns in a form that feels genuinely meaningful rather than cosmetic. This latest 36mm release introduces Unilight, a proprietary luminous system that replaces the flat markers of earlier versions with hand applied three dimensional blocks that add depth during the day and an even glow at night.

From an editorial standpoint this is the most interesting evolution of the Modello Cinque so far. Instead of leaning on another colorway or collaboration, Unimatic chose to rethink how lume works. The result is subtle but impactful. The raised markers catch light from different angles on the matte black dial, giving the watch a quiet sense of dimension that flat indices simply lack. In the dark the effect is even better. Because the lume glows from all sides, visibility feels stronger and more uniform than traditional painted applications.

The brushed stainless steel 36mm case remains unchanged and that is a good thing. With 300 meters of water resistance, a generous dial opening, and a thickness just over 11mm, it wears compact but confident. Inside, the Swiss made Sellita SW200 1b automatic movement delivers a reliable 41 hour power reserve. Each watch is individually tested for accuracy and water resistance, which we always like to see.

Both versions ship with an olive drab seatbelt NATO strap and a black leather quick release strap. Limited to 300 pieces per colorway, the Unimatic Modello Cinque Unilight feels like a thoughtful step forward and easily one of the most refined small case tool watches Unimatic has released to date.
