RNR Collection by REC Watches
REC Watches has introduced a duo of Swiss-made watches made from vintage Land Rovers. The RNR-Rockfighter and the RNR-Beachrunner, are both made from and inspired by the classic Land Rover (Series I-III and Defender). The name RNR stands for: Road Not Required, a name that is fitting for watches made from and inspired by Land Rovers. In fact, the RNR collection pays tribute to the simple, analog, utilitarian and rugged design and function the Land Rover is famous for, but also features recycled dials made directly from the aluminum bodywork of the cars themselves. The RNR-Rockfighter timepiece takes its name, components, and design from a 2003 Land Rover Defender - owned by Michael Ortner, founder of 4x4 Experience. And the RNR-Beachrunner timepiece takes its name, components, and design from a 1981 Land Rover Series III - owned by Portuguese photographer and filmmaker, Daniel Espirito Santo. Some old metal panels from the roof and doors of the cars was used to give life to the watch dials. Both Swiss-made watches are available in limited numbers and feature a Sellita SW200-1, self-winding, automatic movement, a Sapphire glass, and a water resistance up to 50 metres (5 ATM).
