Danner N45 Mid GTX

Danner has been making boots in Portland since 1932. The N45 Mid GTX is the kind of product that shows what happens when a heritage boot maker applies that experience to a modern lightweight hiker. It looks like a trail runner, protects like a boot, and can be rebuilt when the outsole wears through.
 
The waterproofing comes from GORE-TEX Invisible Fit construction, which bonds the membrane directly to the upper material rather than using a separate bootie liner. The result is a lighter, more breathable build that fits closer to the foot and feels more like a sneaker than a traditional waterproof boot. The upper itself is a lightweight abrasion resistant nylon and polyester mesh with a PU coated leather rand at the base for durability where the boot meets rocks and roots.
 
Underfoot, the EnduroFoam midsole is a nitrogen infused supercritical foam that absorbs impact and returns energy with each step. It is built to reduce fatigue over long distances rather than just cushion the first few miles. A TPU rock plate sits between the midsole and outsole, adding stability and protection on uneven terrain especially under a heavy pack. The exclusive Vibram N45 outsole uses Megagrip compound with Traction Lug technology for grip across wet and dry surfaces.
 
Fit is based on Danner's DT6 last, inspired by trail running with an 8mm heel to toe offset and a slightly wider forefoot for stability. A foam core fabric tongue and gusset hug the instep to prevent hot spots. Open cell ankle padding stays breathable over long days. An OrthoLite open cell footbed adds cushioning and moisture control.
 
The recraftable outsole is the detail that separates the N45 from most lightweight hikers. When the Vibram rubber wears down, Danner rebuilds it rather than sending the whole boot to landfill. Eligible for boot stretch, basic, and resole packages. Covered by a 365 day warranty.
