Altra Vanish Carbon 3

The Altra Vanish Carbon 3 is the brand’s latest carbon-plated road racer, built around a lighter, more aggressive platform for race day and speedwork. Its biggest change is the new FAST RCE midsole, made from two full layers of supercritical PEBA foam for Altra’s lightest and most responsive cushioning to date.

Sandwiched between those foam layers is a patent-pending split-toe carbon plate. Instead of using a completely rigid forefoot, the design allows the big toe to engage more naturally during toe-off while still delivering the stiffness and propulsion expected from a carbon race shoe. An enhanced rocker works with the plate to encourage faster turnover and smoother forward motion.

Altra has also moved the Vanish Carbon 3 to a 4mm heel-to-toe drop, with a 40mm heel and 36mm forefoot stack on the brand’s published specifications. The Racing FootShape fit is Altra’s slimmest silhouette, locking down the heel and midfoot while retaining enough room at the front for the toes to spread naturally. A lightweight engineered mesh upper keeps the construction focused on ventilation and low weight.
