Adidas Terrex Freehiker 3
The adidas TERREX FREEHIKER 3 Ultra GORE-TEX is built to blur the line between a hiking boot and a highly cushioned trail shoe. The high-cut silhouette uses a sock-like collar for added support and to help keep debris out, while the overall construction stays considerably lighter and more flexible than a traditional boot.
Underfoot, adidas combines HYPERBOOST PRO foam with DREAMSTRIKE+ cushioning for a softer, more energetic ride over long distances. The men’s version weighs around 307g, with a 43mm heel stack, 33mm forefoot stack, and 9mm drop.
A GORE-TEX membrane provides waterproof protection, while the Continental rubber outsole is designed for grip across wet and dry terrain. Speed lacing makes adjustments quick, and synthetic overlays add abrasion resistance around areas likely to take more abuse on the trail.
The all-new KJ3874 version is finished in Collegiate Green with Carbon detailing and is priced at $220 in the US. It is a strong option for hikers who want the cushioning and movement of a modern athletic shoe with more protection for rougher, wetter conditions.
