Adidas Terrex Agravic SL Trail Running Shoes

Adidas changed the road running conversation with the Adizero Evo SL by putting super shoe technology at an everyday price. The Terrex Agravic SL attempts the same thing for trails.
The midsole is the headline. A full slab of Lightstrike Pro, the same foam that powers Adidas's race day models, delivers the bounce, energy return, and lightweight feel that runners have been paying over $200 for in other shoes. At 9.84 ounces, the Agravic SL keeps the weight low enough to feel fast without sacrificing the cushioning you need when terrain gets rough underfoot.

The geometry borrows from the Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra 2. A dynamic rocker profile creates a smooth, efficient heel to toe transition without relying on a carbon plate or internal rods. It is a design choice that prioritises natural stride efficiency over mechanical stiffness, which tends to work better across mixed terrain where foot placement changes constantly.

Underneath, a wider than average Continental rubber outsole handles grip. A combination of 3.5mm and 4mm lugs provides traction across variable surfaces, wet or dry, without the aggressive tread pattern that makes dedicated trail shoes uncomfortable on hardpack or road crossings. The engineered upper is lightweight and built for breathability without bulk.

The real story is the price. $160 for a full Lightstrike Pro midsole and Continental outsole, when the Speed Ultra 2 it borrows from runs $225. That gap is significant enough to make the Agravic SL one of the most compelling value propositions in trail running right now. Adidas is making the argument that elite level cushioning and grip don't have to carry an elite price tag, and if this shoe runs anything like its road counterpart, other brands will need to respond.
