Oakley Overthetop Sunglasses
Twenty years later, Oakley is bringing back these crazy and iconic shades first unveiled at the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics. The aptly-named OVERTHETOP sunglasses were made famous when Trinidad and Tobago sprinter Ato Boldon wore them in the Men´s 100-meter race, becaming one of the Games´ most memorable images. The futuristic eyewear found fame thanks to its unusual ergonomic design, which sees the frames sculpted over the dome of the head rather than traditional arms that sit on the ears. This new version named "Precious Mettle" features a gradient color scheme that fades from aged gold to silver and bronze, and is released in recognition of the Games that didn’t happen this year in Tokyo, Japan. Priced at $2,000, the OVERTHETOP "Precious Mettle" edition launches Friday, August 7, at 9AM PST exclusively on Oakley.com
