TAD Fast Pack Scout MK2
Triple Aught Design has updated its compact FAST Pack Scout with the MK2, increasing useful capacity while keeping the low-profile proportions that made the original such an agile option. The new 16.1-liter layout is aimed at everyday carry, travel, and technical outings, with enough room for a 16-inch laptop without turning the pack into something bulky.
The main compartment still opens fully clamshell-style, making it easy to organize gear or get to something buried at the bottom. A deeper gusseted front pocket adds more dimensional storage for frequently used items, while a redesigned admin panel, hydration sleeve, internal attachment points, and new adjustable bottom straps give the MK2 more flexibility without piling on unnecessary compartments.
TAD also reworked the suspension with slimmer shoulder straps while retaining load lifters, ventilation, a high-riding fit, and an HDPE frame sheet. The exterior remains compatible with the FAST Transporter Tail system, allowing extra gear or a PALS-compatible mounting surface to be added when needed.
Two material approaches give the Scout MK2 very different personalities. The WX version uses waxed 10.10oz Army Duck with a 500D Cordura liner, while Black Magic switches to lightweight ECOPAK ULTRA 400 with X-Pac lining. Both are cut and sewn in the USA, with the WX weighing 2.5 pounds and Black Magic dropping that to 2.15 pounds. Prices currently start at $295 for WX and $325 for Black Magic.
