Mountain Hardwear Lightweight Trail Packs

The new lightweight trail packs from Mountain Hardwear embrace the brand’s Spring 2026 theme of "Lightness of Being,” focusing on reducing weight while maximizing durability and carrying efficiency. Designed for fast moving hikers and multi day adventurers, the new Alakazam and Kazam packs combine ultralight materials with thoughtful trail ready features.

Leading the lineup is the Alakazam, available in 45 liter and 60 liter capacities. Built with advanced ALUULA bonded fabric, the pack is fully waterproof while weighing under two pounds. The material is produced through a fusion process that bonds mono polymer fibers at the molecular level, creating a shell that is extremely strong, lightweight, and resistant to delamination or fraying.

Comfort and load management are central to the design. Mountain Hardwear’s patented GiddyUp Compression System allows hikers to adjust pack tension while moving, keeping the load stable during long treks. A swivel Gait Keeper hipbelt works with a ventilated back panel and a lightweight V shaped aluminum frame to distribute weight naturally across the body.

The Alakazam’s roll top construction ensures weather protection while allowing quick access to the main compartment. Oversized side pockets accommodate water bottles, trekking poles, or tent poles, while additional daisy chains and loops provide flexible attachment points for extra gear.

Alongside it sits the Kazam, available in 45 liter and 60 liter, which shares much of the same functional design but uses a durable nylon and polyethylene ripstop shell instead of ALUULA fabric. It retains the GiddyUp compression system, vest style shoulder straps with dual pockets, and a lightweight frame designed for balanced load carry.

Together, the Alakazam and Kazam represent Mountain Hardwear’s latest push toward highly technical yet minimalist outdoor gear. By combining cutting edge materials with efficient storage and comfort focused design, these packs deliver serious performance for hikers who want to move fast without carrying unnecessary weight.
