stuff we drool about

UAG Monarch AirTag Case

Apple’s AirTag is easy to attach to a keyring, but less convincing when it is exposed on luggage, outdoor gear, or anything likely to be dragged, dropped, or left in the rain. The UAG Monarch AirTag Case gives the tracker a far more substantial enclosure, combining a rigid shell with hardware designed for everyday carry and travel.

The case uses a mix of polycarbonate and aluminium, with the AirTag held inside a screw-fastened housing rather than a flexible loop. An internal O-ring helps seal the enclosure, while the surrounding shell provides full coverage against scratches, dust, and water. Installation requires removing four screws with the supplied tool, placing the AirTag inside, and securing the cover again.

A heavy-duty carabiner sits at the top, using a twist-lock mechanism to reduce the chance of it opening accidentally when clipped to a backpack, suitcase, keys, or outdoor equipment. There is also a separate keyring attachment beneath the case, making it possible to carry smaller keys or accessories without crowding the main clip.

UAG has also worked a steel-reinforced bottle opener into the carabiner. It is a small addition, but one that fits the case’s broader purpose: turning the AirTag holder into a useful piece of carry hardware rather than a purely protective shell. The tracker itself remains removable, and the case does not add any electronic functions beyond those already provided by the AirTag.

The Monarch is offered in finishes including Blackout, Black/Copper, Olive Drab/Silver, Orange/Silver, and Deep Purple Synth. UAG currently lists the Blackout version at $44.95, while pricing across the wider Monarch range varies by finish.

It is more case than most AirTags will ever need, but that is precisely its appeal. For luggage, trail packs, camera bags, or equipment that spends time outdoors, the Monarch provides a much more secure way to carry Apple’s small tracker without relying on a thin plastic loop.
