Rally Raid Adventure Bike

What if Yamaha built a Tenere 900? Thanks to Purpose Built Moto in Australia, we don't have to wonder. They've transformed a 2019 Yamaha MT-09 into a full-blown Rally Raid adventure bike, blending the MT's lively triple engine with Dakar-inspired off-road performance.

The build started with the older 847cc inline-three platform, praised for its torque and character. PBM lifted the bike with long-travel suspension, including KTM 1190 Adventure forks, and re-engineered the rear with custom shock linkages for proper travel. A spoked 21-inch front wheel, 18-inch rear, and knobby Motoz tires give it true ADV stance, while Brembo brakes keep it in check.

Styling is pure rally raid. A Tenere 700 rally tower with LED lights, hand-shaped aluminum fairings, and twin undertail Yoshimura pipes deliver rugged elegance. The cockpit features wide bars, MX-style pegs, and a Quad Lock charger for adventure practicality. Every detail, down to the heat shields, sump guard, and crash bars, was fabricated in-house.

Finished in a retro Yamaha blue-and-yellow livery, the MT-09 Rally Raid doesn't just look the part—it performs. With its raised stance, reinforced frame, and wild triple power, it’s the closest thing to a factory-built Tenere 900.

While Yamaha hasn't stepped into the big triple ADV space, PBM's creation shows just how epic it could be. Equal parts custom art and off-road weapon, the Rally Raid Yamaha MT-09 is proof that the right vision can build the adventure bike of our dreams. Watch the video below
