Outranger Off-Road Camper Pod
The Outranger is a compact off-road camper from Oregon-based Motsmann Engineering that blends the toughness of a fiberglass trailer with the proportions of a squaredrop. Measuring just 13.5 feet from hitch to rear bumper, it sleeps two while keeping the footprint small enough for towing behind a pickup, SUV, or crossover.
Its shell is built from six molded composite panels mounted to a fully galvanized 3mm steel chassis. The construction is entirely wood-free, helping eliminate concerns around rot and moisture damage, while a Timbren 2000 HD independent suspension and 30-inch Falken Wildpeak tires prepare it for rougher terrain. Dry weight starts at around 1,450 lb.
Inside, an 82-inch memory-foam mattress fills most of the cabin, with large side doors, opening windows, integrated storage, and enough headroom to sit comfortably. A 200Ah lithium battery powers the standard 12V electrical system, lighting, and USB ports, while optional upgrades include solar charging, additional battery capacity, an inverter, heater, and air conditioning.
At the rear, the lift-up hatch reveals a full-width galley and storage area. Buyers can leave it relatively simple or add a Dometic two-burner stove, drawer fridge, sink, and water system. A fold-down side table extends the preparation area around the camper, while optional roof racks and external storage add more carrying capacity.
