Mercedes-Benz 80th Anniversary Unimog
Mercedes Benz is celebrating eight decades of Unimog heritage by turning its most unstoppable workhorse into its most luxurious version yet. The Mercedes Benz 80th Anniversary Unimog is a bold show car that blends legendary off road capability with premium comfort in a way no one expected.
Developed with Hellgeth Engineering, this special build is based on the Unimog U 4023, a platform known for tackling the harshest terrain on the planet. Portal axles, a flexible frame, able all wheel drive, and locking differentials remain at its core, but power has been significantly upgraded. The usual four cylinder engine has been replaced with a Mercedes Benz OM 936 six cylinder diesel producing 300 horsepower, delivering stronger performance and smoother transmission tuning.
The exterior sets a new tone with matte grey paint, aluminum beadlock wheels, and a modern LED lighting signature. A MirrorCam system replaces traditional mirrors with digital cameras, improving visibility while giving the truck a futuristic edge. The double cab configuration adds practicality without sacrificing presence.
Inside, the Unimog steps firmly into luxury territory. Premium leather upholstery, contrast stitching, ergonomic seating, leather floor mats, and ambient LED lighting transform the cabin into a space that feels refined yet purposeful. It is still built to conquer extreme environments, just now with comfort that matches its capability.
Mercedes Benz has not confirmed production plans yet, but real world testing is coming. If this anniversary Unimog is any indication, the future of extreme off road luxury just got very interesting.
