Unit 1 Neon Smart Helmet
Most bike helmets protect your head and stop there. The Unit 1 Neon adds everything else urban riders actually need: visibility, signalling, and crash response, all built into a single lightweight shell.
The lighting system is fully integrated. Front and rear LEDs handle basic visibility, wireless turn signals communicate your intentions to traffic behind you, and an automatic brake light activates when you slow down. Day or night, it addresses the single biggest problem cyclists face in cities: drivers not seeing them. The helmet is ranked 28th out of 300 helmets tested by Virginia Tech for safety performance, and second among all smart helmets tested. NTA 8776 certification covers impacts up to 45 km/h, which matters for e-bike riders operating at speeds beyond what traditional cycling helmets are designed for.
The companion app connects via the UNIT 1 system and lets you customise lighting modes, monitor battery life, and manage settings from your phone. Crash detection senses hard impacts and sends an SOS with your GPS location to a designated emergency contact. A Safety ID feature stores your essential information accessible to first responders. These are features that justify the smart helmet category rather than just adding LEDs to a standard shell.
The build is EPS foam with a lightweight in mold construction and adjustable fit retention. Ventilation channels keep airflow moving for daily commuting comfort. USB C charging keeps it topped up quickly. The modular design allows individual components to be replaced or upgraded without buying a new helmet, which extends the lifespan and reduces waste over time. A magnetic visor is available as an add on for weather protection.
