Halfbike Pro
We covered Halfbike when it was still on Kickstarter. That was ten years ago. Since then, the company has shipped over 35,000 units worldwide, won a Red Dot Design Award, and built one of the more distinctive rider communities in outdoor sport. The Halfbike Pro is the most significant update they have ever made, and it changes how the thing rides without changing what it fundamentally is.
For anyone unfamiliar, a Halfbike is a standing bike. No seat. You ride upright, steer by leaning your body weight into turns, and use your legs, core, arms, balance, and reflexes together in a movement that feels part cycling, part running, part skiing, and entirely its own thing. It demands enough attention to quiet mental noise and bring you into a state of flow, which is why the people who ride them tend to stay with them.
The Pro redesigns the geometry from the ground up. A larger 20 inch front wheel replaces the smaller wheel on the standard model, delivering improved stability, a smoother feel over rough surfaces, and lower rolling resistance. A new V shaped handlebar improves ergonomics and gives sharper, more intuitive control. The wheelbase is longer and frame stiffness has been increased, which together make the ride more confident at speed and more natural over longer distances. The riding position is more upright than before, which matters when you are standing for the entire ride.
The frame is aerospace grade aluminum, refined throughout for a more direct connection with the road. Components are engineered locally in Sofia with selected premium parts from Sturmey Archer, Look, Herrmans, and Lasco. Every unit is handmade in Halfbike's own workshop in Bulgaria. It folds flat for storage and transit, light enough for public transport and compact enough to fit in a car boot.
The Pro sits above the standard Halfbike as the premium performance model. The two will be sold side by side rather than one replacing the other. Two colorways are available: Aura and Stealth.
Early units were shipped to selected riders across different countries for real world beta testing before launch. Feedback highlighted improved stability, smoother ride quality, and more confident control as the standout differences over the standard model. The annual Halfbike meetup has grown from 30 riders in Valencia in 2025 to over 100 in Berlin in 2026, with a larger international gathering planned for Lake Garda next year.
