stuff we drool about

Range Rover GT

Range Rover is stepping beyond the familiar SUV template with the Range Rover GT, an all-new electric grand tourer that will become the fifth member of the family. Its long, low silhouette and arcing roofline immediately set it apart from the upright Range Rover, Sport, Velar, and Evoque. It sits lower than an Evoque but extends to roughly the length of a Range Rover Sport, a combination that explains its unusual, almost sedan-like stance.

Built on JLR's new Electric Modular Architecture, the Range Rover GT will initially be offered as a battery-electric vehicle and manufactured in Halewood, UK. A full hybrid is planned for later in its lifecycle. The platform accommodates all-wheel drive and a flat floor, helping the GT combine a lower stance with the space and traction expected of a Range Rover.

The undisguised cabin is arguably the more revealing part of this preview. A single central screen is paired with a compact driver display, while the transmission selector moves to the steering column to clear the center console. A concealed air vent spans the dashboard, and a woven textile surface hides the speakers within it. The result is a calmer, more architectural interior in which technology is present without dominating every surface. Range Rover also says more vehicle functions can be reached through natural conversation, although the limited number of physical controls may still divide drivers.

Second-row space is a clear priority, with Range Rover claiming class-leading legroom. The cabin is arranged as a 2+2, while a conventional rear bench is also expected to be offered. Four frameless doors and a large, uninterrupted glass roof reinforce the more car-like presentation. Range Rover has not yet disclosed battery capacity, driving range, power, charging speeds, pricing, or a launch date.

Prototypes are completing final global testing, wearing a gold-and-black camouflage pattern based on the topographic contours surrounding Gaydon. More details are due later in 2026. Until the numbers arrive, the GT's significance lies in its form: this is Range Rover design applied to a lower, more focused grand-touring brief, not another variation on the brand's established SUV silhouette.
