Modified 2000 Mercedes-Benz G500
This 2000 Mercedes-Benz G500 has been transformed into an imposing off-road machine inspired by the legendary G-Class 4x4². Originally built for the German market, the long-wheelbase SUV was imported to the United States in 2025 before undergoing an extensive transformation by Banyan Motors in Houston, Texas. With portal axles, a lifted suspension, massive off-road tires, and a distinctive Coyote Brown Magno finish, this custom G-Wagen combines classic military-inspired styling with serious all-terrain hardware.
The most significant upgrades are found underneath. A LeTech dual suspension system and portal axles dramatically increase ground clearance, while 18-inch LeTech beadlock wheels wrapped in enormous 37-inch Pro Comp tires provide traction across challenging terrain. The truck also features widened fender flares, heavy-duty LeTech steel bumpers, underbody skid plates, and a Raw Machine Raptor winch rated at 13,500 pounds. Dual snorkels, custom LED roof lighting, and a swing-out rear spare tire carrier complete its expedition-ready appearance.
Power comes from Mercedes-Benz's naturally aspirated 5.0-liter M113 V8, factory-rated at 291 horsepower and 336 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and locking front, center, and rear differentials. While the suspension and portal axles provide impressive off-road potential, the original V8 maintains the mechanical simplicity and character of an early G500.
Inside, the utilitarian exterior gives way to a beautifully customized cabin. Heated front seats and the rear bench have been retrimmed in Saddle leather with distinctive octagonal stitching and contrasting black piping. Matching door panels, a microsuede headliner, and black interior trim create a warmer, more contemporary atmosphere. Additional equipment includes an electric sunroof, air conditioning, a Kenwood stereo, and subwoofers beneath the front seats.
The digital odometer displays approximately 1,900 miles, although the vehicle's total mileage is unknown. Offered through Bring a Trailer in Costa Mesa, California, this distinctive G500 comes with a Montana title and a clean Carfax report covering records from 2025 onward. The seller notes that it has not passed California emissions testing. With its towering stance, extensive mechanical upgrades, and carefully finished interior, this custom G500 offers a dramatic alternative to a factory-built G-Class 4x4².
