Lamborghini Rat Rod

This 1968 Lamborghini Espada was turned into an insane hot rod and will be up for auction on January 12th via Mecum. Introduced in 1968, the Espada enjoyed a 10-year production run (only 1,200 were produced), with a styling that was controversial at the time, a sort of love it-hate it design. The "Rat Rod" was built in 2018 by Danton Art Kustoms to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Espada, and it has all the elements of hot rod style though in a more modern package. The team exposed the mighty 3.9 V12 engine in traditional American hot rod tradition, drawing attention to the masterpiece stainless steel tubular headers and exhaust. The body and interior have also been extensively modified for a much more rebellious look and flair, and the suspension modifications push the width out to over eight feet, giving it a classic long, low, and very wide look. It also has exposed rivets and support trusses used as styling elements, and a satin gray paint was applied to the body to complete the blend of classic and modern, resulting in a controversial and unique vehicle, much like the original.
