DeLorean EV Conversion Kit

The Electrogenic DeLorean DMC-12 conversion kit gives the stainless-steel icon the performance its shape always promised. The drop-in system replaces the original V6 with a 160kW electric motor while keeping the conversion fully reversible, with no cutting, welding, or drilling required.

A 42kWh battery pack is split between the rear engine bay and the space once occupied by the fuel tank, leaving the front luggage compartment untouched. Electrogenic quotes a real-world range of around 150 miles, with 6.6kW AC charging and CCS rapid charging included. The finished car remains within roughly 30kg of its original weight and retains a similar weight distribution.

Performance changes dramatically. The electric setup delivers more than twice the original car’s power and can send the DMC-12 from 0–60 mph in under five seconds. Drive profiles include Sport, Eco, and Town, while regenerative braking, launch control, heating, and Vehicle-to-Load capability bring the car much closer to modern EV usability.

The clever part is how little of the DeLorean’s character needs to disappear. The motor, inverter, charger, cooling system, and rear battery box mount to existing points, and the kit can be fitted to both manual and automatic cars. Electrogenic supplies the system through trained specialist installers, turning the DMC-12 into a much quicker, quieter classic without permanently altering the underlying car.
