stuff we drool about

BMW iX Flow E-Ink

Over the many years of surfing the web for the coolest and most eye-catching stuff, occasionally, something truly brilliant catches our attention. We haven’t seen anything more impressive than this color-changing BMW lately, at the touch of a button you can change the body color in a few seconds! The game-changing BMW iX Flow features a color-changing exterior that uses E-Ink technology, a fascinating kit that allows the car to change from white to black, with shades of gray in between, allowing the driver to match their car to their personal style or the weather. Essentially the technology used in the wrap is the same paper-thin technology found in eReaders, with millions of tiny human hair sized microcapsules moving and changing depending on the electromagnetic field they are exposed to. The energy flips the capsules from black to white in this case but any two colors can be chosen for this technology. In the not-too-distant future, this innovative color-changing option should also be available for series-produced models. Watch the video below
