1993 Land Rover Defender 110 NAS
One of the rarest versions of the classic Land Rover Defender has surfaced on Bring a Trailer, combining its original British off-road character with an extensive modern rebuild. This 1993 Defender 110 NAS is number 155 of approximately 525 North American Specification examples produced for the model year. Rebuilt by Maine-based specialist East Coast Rover in 2015, it features a more modern turbodiesel engine, upgraded suspension, and a carefully reworked interior, all wrapped in the Defender's unmistakable boxy silhouette.
The transformation begins with a 2.4-liter Puma turbodiesel inline-four, replacing the original V8 and paired with a six-speed manual transmission, dual-range transfer case, and locking center differential. A replacement galvanized frame provides a more corrosion-resistant foundation, while VB air suspension and four-wheel disc brakes with AP Racing calipers improve the truck's handling and stopping capability. Black 18-inch Boost alloy wheels wrapped in Cooper Zeon LTZ tires complete the upgraded running gear.
Finished in Santorini Black, the Defender retains its classic aluminum bodywork, external roll cage, rear ladder, and distinctive utilitarian proportions. Modern LED lighting, bumper-mounted auxiliary lamps, and a rear-mounted spare wheel reinforce its purposeful appearance. Inside, heated Recaro front seats, a split-folding rear bench, and a Puma-style dashboard bring welcome improvements to comfort and everyday usability. The cabin also features air conditioning, power front windows, an Alpine Bluetooth stereo with JL Audio speakers, and a useful pull-out storage drawer beneath the cargo floor.
The odometer shows approximately 23,000 miles since the rebuild, with around 15,000 added under the current ownership. The vehicle's history includes a fire-related insurance total-loss declaration in 2013, before its subsequent reconstruction, along with a reported mileage inconsistency. The diesel conversion also presents California registration restrictions due to outstanding emissions compliance requirements. Offered with service records and a clean California title, this extensively modified Defender is currently available through Bring a Trailer, with bidding scheduled to close on October 19, 2026.
