JMGO IRIS Ultra Max 4K Projector
JMGO is pushing home projection into serious big-screen territory with the IRIS Ultra Max, a flagship 4K laser projector built to deliver impressive brightness, high-refresh gaming, and unusually flexible installation. Combining an RGB triple-laser light source with a motorized optical system and integrated gimbal, it aims to solve some of the compromises that typically come with setting up a premium home theater. Rather than requiring a perfectly positioned projector, the IRIS Ultra Max gives owners greater freedom to adapt the image to their room.
At the heart of the system is JMGO's MALC 6.0 triple-laser technology, producing a manufacturer-rated 6,500 ISO lumens and covering 110% of the BT.2020 color gamut. A dual-iris mechanism with 6+9 blades works alongside AI Dynamic Black Level processing to deliver a claimed 10,000:1 native contrast ratio. The combination is designed to preserve detail in dark scenes while providing enough light output for large images and rooms with some ambient lighting. Dolby Vision support adds another layer of dynamic range control, although image quality will still depend on the projection surface and lighting conditions.
Gaming performance is another major attraction. Using dual Texas Instruments display controllers, the IRIS Ultra Max supports a full 4K signal path at up to 120Hz, along with variable refresh rate technology and low-latency gaming features. This makes it particularly interesting for high-end PC and console setups where smooth motion matters. Hardware-level rainbow-effect reduction also addresses a potential distraction associated with some DLP projectors, although viewers sensitive to the effect should still assess it for themselves.
The most practical innovation may be the optical system. The integrated AI gimbal works with a 0.88–1.7:1 optical zoom range and four-way mechanical lens shift, allowing the image to be repositioned without relying entirely on digital keystone correction. Vertical adjustment reaches ±130%, with horizontal adjustment of ±53%. For anyone installing a projector in an existing living room, these adjustments can make the difference between a clean installation and an awkward arrangement of furniture or mounting hardware. The projector supports images from 40 to 300 inches, although the largest sizes require appropriate viewing conditions.
Google TV is built in, providing access to streaming services without an external media player. Automatic focus, image adjustments, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and integrated audio round out the package. The emphasis is on creating a complete entertainment system, although dedicated home theater enthusiasts may still prefer a separate sound system and a proper projection screen to get the most from the hardware.
Compared with the JMGO N1 Ultra 4K Projector, the IRIS Ultra Max offers substantially greater rated brightness and a more advanced installation system. It also serves a different purpose from the JMGO O2S Ultra, whose ultra-short-throw design is intended for placement close to a wall. At $3,499, the IRIS Ultra Max is a significant investment, but its combination of optical flexibility, high brightness, and true 4K/120Hz support makes it especially compelling for buyers who want one projector for both serious gaming and cinematic viewing.
