Ember has introduced the third generation of its popular temperature-controlled smart mug, bringing a series of meaningful upgrades to a familiar design. Completely re-engineered for easier everyday use, the new Ember Mug 3 adds physical temperature controls, improved battery performance, and a dishwasher-safe construction, addressing some of the biggest limitations of previous models while maintaining the brand's clean, minimalist aesthetic.
The most significant improvement is the ability to adjust the drinking temperature directly on the mug, without opening the companion app. A button on the base cycles through five preset temperatures between 125°F and 145°F (52°C to 63°C), while the Ember app allows more precise adjustments. Built-in sensors and an integrated heating system continuously monitor and maintain the selected temperature, ensuring coffee or tea stays at the desired warmth rather than gradually cooling down. Discreet LED indicators also display temperature settings and battery status during charging.
Battery life has received a practical upgrade thanks to an included sliding lid, which helps retain heat and reduces the risk of spills. With the lid attached, the Mug 3 can maintain its temperature for over three hours on a single charge, compared with approximately 80 minutes without it. The included charging coaster provides continuous heating when the mug is placed on its base, making it especially useful for desks and home offices.
Ember has also redesigned the stainless steel construction and ceramic-reinforced coating to make the Mug 3 top-rack dishwasher safe, a welcome improvement over earlier generations that required hand washing. Available in 10 oz and 14 oz capacities, with a range of colors and finishes, the updated mug starts at $129.95, with the larger version priced at $149.95. Combining intelligent temperature control with a more practical everyday design, the Ember Mug 3 makes the simple ritual of enjoying a hot drink considerably more convenient.
