Grand Theft Auto VI
Twelve years. That is how long it has been since Grand Theft Auto V launched in 2013, making this the longest gap between entries in the franchise's history. Grand Theft Auto VI arrives on November 19 and brings players back to Vice City, the neon soaked setting that defined the series for a generation.
The game is set in Leonida, a fictionalized version of Florida that extends well beyond the city limits. Rockstar is calling it the biggest and most expansive evolution of the series yet, and given that GTA V's Los Santos was already one of the largest open worlds ever built, the scale of Leonida is expected to set a new benchmark for the medium. Development costs are estimated at over $1 billion, which would make it the most expensive game ever produced.
The story follows two protagonists for the first time in the series. Jason and Lucia are pulled into a state spanning conspiracy after a single score goes wrong. The dual protagonist structure suggests a narrative that shifts perspective and geography across Leonida's full map rather than anchoring to a single character's arc.
The premium edition adds substance beyond the base game. A custom Electric Fang tattoo shop features more than 50 designs created by the art collective FAILE. A Classic Car Collection storyline built around a fixer named Wyman introduces additional missions tied to vehicle acquisition. Early orders include the Vintage Vice City Pack with a weapon skin modeled on Tommy Vercetti's tropical shirt from the original Vice City, a detail that connects the new game directly to the 2002 entry that made the setting iconic.
Grand Theft Auto VI launches exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with no PC version announced. The PS5 version takes advantage of DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to bring physical sensation into the gameplay, Tempest 3D AudioTech for spatial sound positioning across Leonida's environments, and the console's SSD for near instant load times across the open world.
