8BitDo FlipPad

The 8BitDo FlipPad turns a smartphone into a compact vertical handheld without adding the bulk of a full-size controller. It connects directly through USB-C and folds down beneath the phone, placing a physical D-pad and ABXY buttons within easy reach for retro games and controller-supported mobile titles.

Its folding design is the clever part. The controls can be flipped open when you need to answer a call or message without unplugging the controller, then dropped back into position to continue playing. 8BitDo rates the hinge for more than 6,000 cycles and the USB-C connector for more than 10,000 insertions.

At just 31.5 grams and measuring 70 × 66.5 × 19.7mm, the FlipPad is genuinely pocketable. It works with iPhones running iOS 26.2 or later and Android devices running Android 13 or newer, and it can accommodate most cases up to 2mm thick.

The standard black version keeps things understated, while the G Classic Edition adds a more nostalgic color scheme with burgundy controls. Both are priced at $29.99, with the G Classic version scheduled to ship from August 25.
