Insta360 Luna Ultra Gimbal Camera Pairs Dual Leica Lenses with 8K Dolby Vision and AI Tracking

Insta360 has been pushing what small cameras can do for years. The Luna Ultra is the most ambitious thing they have built. A 3 axis gimbal camera with dual Leica engineered lenses, a triple AI chip system, 8K30 Dolby Vision video, and a detachable touchscreen that doubles as a wireless remote and microphone. The lens system runs two sensors. A 1 inch CMOS main sensor behind a Leica Summicron lens handles the wide end with up to 8K30 resolution. A 1/1.3 inch CMOS telephoto sensor with an F2.0 aperture delivers up to 6x lossless zoom and 12x total zoom with natural optical background blur. Five focal lengths are covered from a single device. Macro mode gets close enough to reveal fine textures while the 3 axis stabilization keeps telephoto shots steady.

The triple AI chip is the processing backbone. Two chips are dedicated to imaging, handling noise reduction and exposure in low light. The third is a 4nm flagship chip that powers everything else, from Deep Track 5.0 AI subject tracking to real time Beauty Mode for portrait video. PureVideo mode pushes low light performance to 4K60 with reduced noise and enhanced detail. Dynamic range hits 14 stops. 10 bit I-Log recording with ACES workflow compatibility gives serious editors the flexibility they need in post.

The detachable 2 inch OLED touchscreen transmits HD video up to 20 meters and has a built in microphone for recording dialogue at distance. Pull it off the camera and you have a wireless monitor and remote control for solo shooting, group shots, or any scenario where you can't be behind the lens. A four microphone array across the camera and handle captures spatial audio, with Bluetooth connectivity for Insta360 Mic Air or Mic Pro wireless transmitters.

Leica color profiles and cinematic filters are built in for ready to use looks straight from the camera. QR Color Share lets you save custom color grades as scannable codes that other Luna Ultra users can apply by pointing their camera lens at the code. 200MP scenic panorama mode, 4K120 slow motion, 4K60 portrait video, and 37MP still photos round out the capture options.
