Cleaver Brutalist Aluminum Keyboard

From the same creators of the striking Icebreaker Keyboard, the Serene Industries Cleaver takes the brand’s brutalist keyboard aesthetic and strips it down even further. The chassis is CNC machined from a single billet of aluminum, but compared with the Icebreaker it is considerably slimmer, lighter, and more compact, measuring just 365 x 110 x 17.5mm.

The industrial design has an unmistakable retro-futurist quality, with echoes of early home computers such as the Sinclair QL. Aluminum keycaps reinforce the all-metal construction, with each set perforated by 1,204 tiny openings that allow the RGB backlighting to shine through. A silicone core fused to the chassis helps dampen sound and vibration while also contributing to the keyboard’s low-profile appearance.

Underneath, Cleaver uses hot-swappable Hall Effect switches. Their magnetic, contactless operation is designed for precise actuation and reduced mechanical wear, while interchangeable keycaps provide another level of customization. Unlike the wireless Icebreaker, Cleaver deliberately keeps things simple with wired USB-C connectivity and built-in onboard controls.

The result is a keyboard that feels more like a piece of industrial design than standard desktop hardware. Available in Clear and Black finishes, the Cleaver starts at $850, making it substantially less expensive than Serene Industries’ first keyboard while retaining the same machined-aluminum construction and uncompromising visual identity.
