The Brick Phone Access Blocker

The Brick is a simple idea executed in a smarter way. Instead of relying on apps you can easily ignore, it introduces something most digital tools lack, real world friction. It physically blocks access to distracting apps and notifications until you tap your phone back on the device, turning your smartphone back into a tool instead of a constant distraction.

Setup is straightforward. Through the companion app, you choose which apps or websites to block, then activate the mode by tapping your phone on the Brick. From that moment on, those apps are locked. No bypass, no quick override. If you want access again, you need to go back to where you left the device and tap it.

That small physical step changes everything. It removes the instant gratification loop that makes most screen time limits useless. Instead of mindlessly opening social media, you are forced to make a conscious decision, which is exactly the point.

The system also supports custom modes for different parts of your day. You can create a work setup that blocks distractions, a focused study mode, or a more relaxed configuration for evenings. A built in timer tracks how long your phone stays “Bricked,” turning focus into something measurable and even a bit addictive in the right way.

Unlike many productivity tools, there are no subscriptions or hidden costs. It is a one time purchase with lifetime access to the app, making it a practical solution rather than another recurring expense. Compact, thoughtfully designed, and surprisingly effective, the Brick is less about blocking your phone and more about changing your behavior. And that is what makes it work.
