Salty Stainless Steel Salt Vessel
CW&T Salty brings careful engineering to a small kitchen ritual: reaching for a pinch of salt. The stainless steel vessel has a sliding lid that opens with one hand, leaving the other free to stir a pan or finish a dish. Its broad opening makes the contents easy to reach while cooking or sitting at the table.
The body uses corrosion-resistant 316 stainless steel, combining casting with CNC machining. A glass-bead-blasted finish gives the surface a subdued appearance, while the low profile keeps the design visually simple. There is a pleasing sense of restraint here, with the material and sliding mechanism doing most of the work.
Practical details extend underneath and inside. A 3M Bumpon pad protects the surface it rests on, and the three-part construction comes apart for refilling and cleaning. CW&T also lists the vessel as dishwasher safe, a useful consideration for an object intended to stay close to food preparation.
Originally created as a companion to Salty Magazine by Kristen Taylor, the vessel is priced at $190 directly from CW&T. That puts it firmly in design-object territory, with its appeal centered on durable materials and a small interaction you repeat every day.
