SWAY | LEANING ELECTRIC THREE WHEELER

Sway Motorsports introduced an unusual leaning electric three-wheeler designed to combine the stability of a trike with the riding experience of a motorcycle. First showcased at CES 2014, the compact electric scooter featured a tilting front suspension system that allowed riders to steer by shifting their weight, creating a sensation similar to carving on skis.

 

Designed for urban transportation, the Sway concept offered a compact footprint, electric propulsion and a distinctive three-wheel layout. Three versions were originally proposed: Basic, Lithium and LithiumPlus, with claimed ranges of 20, 40 and 60 miles, respectively.

 

Despite attracting considerable attention, including an appearance on Shark Tank, Sway never reached commercial production. The project remains an interesting example of an alternative approach to electric urban mobility.
