Kayoibako-K Micro Camper
Toyota and Daihatsu are redefining compact adventure with the Kayoibako-K micro camper, showcased at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show. This tiny van shrinks the original 2023 Toyota Kayoibako concept into a city-friendly 3,395 mm package, yet keeps its modular, versatile spirit. Designed as a micro-camper, delivery van, or urban hauler, the Kayoibako-K blends practicality with playful charm.
Inspired by Japanese shipping containers, its interchangeable interior allows one van to serve multiple purposes. The camper version features a pop-up rooftop tent, ladder access, retractable awning, portable table and chairs, off-road tires, and even roof-mounted LED lights, perfect for short escapes or weekend adventures. The interior supports up to four passengers while leaving space for cargo, tools, or outdoor gear like kayaks.
Adding a futuristic twist, the Kayoibako-K concept includes semi-autonomous driving, letting it shuttle itself along pre-set routes or return to a parking spot, ideal for solo adventurers or point-to-point outdoor trips. Despite its tiny footprint, the micro camper delivers big on versatility, urban practicality, and weekend fun.
Though still a concept, the Daihatsu Kayoibako-K hints at a future where modular, electric micro-campers are a reality, combining efficient city driving with offbeat outdoor exploration. Whether it’s last-mile deliveries, urban ridesharing, or hitting the river for kayaking, this micro camper proves small can be mighty. Watch the video below
