Frontline LE60 MGB
The striking Frontline Cars LE60 is a modern interpretation of the classic MG MGB, created to celebrate sixty years of the iconic platform while pushing it far beyond its original limits. Built by the Oxfordshire based restomod specialist, the LE60 combines traditional British sports car character with modern engineering, resulting in one of the most serious MGB evolutions ever produced.
At the heart of the LE60 sits a reworked 4.8 litre Rover V8 producing around 375 bhp, paired to a five speed Tremec manual gearbox and limited slip differential. Performance is dramatic for something with vintage roots, with a claimed zero to sixty time close to four seconds and a top speed approaching 160 mph. To handle the added power, Frontline redesigned the chassis with wider tracks, strengthened structure, bespoke Nitron suspension and upgraded braking hardware. Even with these upgrades, weight remains just over 1100 kg, preserving the lively feel that made the original car so engaging.
The experience is not just about speed. The V8 delivers strong low end torque, a muscular mid range and a distinctive soundtrack that gives the car real personality. The manual gearbox adds mechanical involvement, offering precise shifts that feel modern without losing character. On real roads, the LE60 blends classic rear wheel drive balance with surprising grip and composure, delivering old school feedback without the fragility often associated with vintage machinery.
Visually, the LE60 keeps the familiar MGB silhouette but introduces wider arches, refined details and subtle motorsport cues. Inside, everything is hand finished by Frontline, with leather and Alcantara trim, modern electronics and discreet technology integrated without disrupting the retro atmosphere. The result feels bespoke rather than restored.
Only thirty examples will be produced, making the LE60 a rare interpretation of the MGB story. It represents what a classic car can become when decades of specialist knowledge meet modern expectations, respecting heritage while delivering performance and refinement that place it firmly in the present.
