Belly Tank Lakester

A Lakester is a car with a streamlined body and with four exposed wheels. Building them became popular after World War II, they were built using old aircraft fuel tanks that were available cheaply. The fuel tank became the body of the belly tank racer, it was also fitted with a Model-T frame, wheels, a V8-60 flat-head ford engine with twin Stromberg 81 carburetors, an Eddie Meyers intake, and an electric starter. A gift from the sky and built in a backyard, this piece of hot rod ingenuity rocketed over 200mph and still does today. This rare Lakester is now being offered for sale in California, is was featured in the short film that is attached below.
