Leica Leitzphone
The Leica Leitzphone marks the camera maker’s most focused move into mobile photography, developed in partnership with Xiaomi and engineered for users who care about image quality as much as performance. Rather than simply branding a camera module, Leica has shaped the device around its own design philosophy and photographic ethos.
Visually, the Leitzphone follows Leica’s principle of reduction to essentials. A black fibreglass rear panel meets a knurled metal frame, finished with the signature red dot. The standout hardware detail is a mechanical camera ring surrounding the lens module, offering tactile control over zoom, exposure, ISO and shutter speed. It transforms the act of shooting from tapping a screen into something closer to handling a dedicated camera.
At its core is a triple camera system built to Leica standards. The main 50MP camera uses a large 1 inch sensor with expanded dynamic range, paired with a 200MP periscope telephoto lens delivering optical zoom from 75 to 100mm, and a 50MP ultra wide lens. Leica’s colour science and image processing define the output, supported by thirteen Leica Looks, custom bokeh simulations and a dedicated Leica Essential Mode inspired by classic M series aesthetics.
Powering the device is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform, paired with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. A 6.9 inch HyperRGB OLED display with adaptive 1 to 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 3500 nits ensures the images you capture look as refined on screen as they do in print. A 6000mAh battery with fast wired and wireless charging keeps the system ready for long shooting days.
With IP68 resistance, advanced AI tools and both wireless and wired high resolution video capabilities up to 8K, the Leica Leitzphone blends optical heritage with modern mobile engineering. It is less about adding a Leica badge to a smartphone and more about translating the Leica way of seeing into a device you carry every day.
