Pinewood Villa
Tucked into the lush pinewood landscape of Sintra, Portugal, Pinewood Villa has been thoughtfully reimagined by Joao Tiago Aguiar. This 2025 renovation breathes new life into the home by harmonizing light, material, and space, blurring the lines between interior comfort and the surrounding forest.
At the heart of the redesign is a sculptural staircase that opens up a double-height void, filling the home with natural light. French doors connect the living space to the garden, while the reconfigured pergola extends the master suite outdoors. The original pool was reshaped into a sleek terracotta-lined retreat, blending seamlessly into the natural setting.
Inside, warm materials like stone, wood, and handmade tiles create a timeless, calming atmosphere. Every detail-down to the dark metal fireplace wall and the bookcase-mezzanine-was designed to serve both function and beauty. This is quiet architecture at its finest, where each gesture deepens the connection between the home and its environment.
