ZURINER DEPTH-CHARGE ZV-01
ZURINER is a recent Hong Kong based Watch Company founded by Canadian
watch connoisseur, Dave Simmons. He has a passion for precision-built
timepieces with leading edge technology. He is inspired by the design of many popular men΄s watches. We were lucky enough to get our
hands on the stunning Zuriner Depth Charge ZV-01, the watch (you might
be wondering) is a homage/salute of the PANERAI Radiomir Egiziano,
but... with a much more affordable price tag.
Our first note must go out to Dave for sending us the watch for review,
it was an absolute pleasure to "test drive" this stunning timepiece. And
now, on to the watch...We must write a few words about the smart black box the
watch arrives in, it is very imposing and has great presentation, but
beware if you have small storage space at home, this thing is huge! Opening the box
you can now understand why it is so imposing, it matches the presence of
the watch! Inside you will find the Depth-Charge ZV-01 fitted with a beautiful
thick, rugged, brown, soft buttery leather strap, also provided is an
extra brown leather strap allowing you to decide witch fits the character of the
watch better. Also included is a fancy, black jeweler screwdriver for
changing out the straps.
As we mentioned before the Depth-Charge is a modern interpretation of
the classic PANERAI Radiomir Egiziano. The "Egiziano" boasted a huge
60mm diameter, the Depth-Charge however, features a more manageable 48mm, making it a
mans watch! There is absolutely nothing feminine about it, and be
prepared to strap it tight if you have a thin wrist.
The case of the Depth-Charge is one of the most standout features of the
watch, it is made of stainless steel with DLC(Diamond-like-carbon)
coating. DLC is a hard carbon film, composed mainly of carbon and hydrogen, making it
very hard with excellent abrasion resistance. Zuriner watches that are
DLC processed are highly durable with a silky smooth surface. It meets the demands of
an active lifestyle while conveying a subtle elegance and subdued
strength.
The most predominate feature of the case is the PANERAI-style crown
locking device, showing great attention to detail, it matches the
flowing lines of the Zuriner Depth-Charge case perfectly. Also made of stainless steel it is
designed to withstand impact offering unparalleled protection to the
crown and movement. It also features a rotational bezel and has a water-resistance of 20 ATM, 200 meters or 660 feet.
Inside the 48mm x 15mm case runs a Swiss Unitas ETA 6497 movement(manual
wind), 17 jewels with a 21.6K BPH. The power reserve ensures that
youll run 46 hours without winding. It features a sandwich dial with the indexes,
hour, minute, and small second hands painted with Superluminova.
The Depth-Charge ZV-01 comes in 6 different variations: two finishes,
brushed steel or DLC(Diamond-like-carbon) and two crown positions,
regular or lefty.
Overall, this is a well-executed watch, precision-built to last out of
high quality components. It is nice and chunky, but comfortable, sits
nicely on the wrist and it definitely has presence. If you like the aesthetic of the
Penarai but can΄t afford one, then you will be happy with this purchase.
